Recently, I have been venturing to different breakfast spots on the weekends. The purpose of the dining experience is to get a great, hearty meal that doesn’t ding your wallet. Recently, I was brought to Mul’s dinner. This spot is a hidden gem in South Boston.
Upon walking in, you are transported back to the 50’s. Mul’s is a classic old-school diner, with a black and white tiled floor, red walls and booths, and a few stools for those who want to grab a quick coffee or something to eat.
There are some fabulous, low cost specials on the menu. My favorite that I saw was the Working Man’s Breakfast special (3 Eggs, Home Fries, Choice of Sausage or Bacon, Toast, and Coffee for $3.95); it can’t be beat. You just need to get there by 9am to order it.
I have recently been in the mood for pancakes for breakfast, a deviation from my go-to of French Toast. I ordered the Banana Pecan pancakes. This three pancake dish included fresh bananas in their house buttermilk batter topped with toasted pecans, caramel sauce and whipped cream. So delish!
Mul’s Diner is by far one of Boston’s hidden breakfast treasures. There isn’t much not to like about Mul’s between the great atmosphere, awesome food, and stellar prices. A fan of diners? Definitely check out Mul’s, and you might soon understand why this has become such a favorite spot!
